The Delhi government's Directorate of Education has issued an order stating that recognized private schools in Delhi, which government agencies have allotted land, must obtain prior approval from the Directorate before increasing fees for the academic session 2024-25.
According to the order, private schools that have been allotted land by agencies like the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) are prohibited from increasing fees without the prior sanction of the Director of Education. These schools must collect fees based on the last approved fee structure or as per the fee statement they have filed.
The order cites Section 17 of the Delhi School Education Act and Rules (DSEAR), 1973, which stipulates that private unaided schools in Delhi allotted land by government agencies cannot enhance fees without prior sanction from the Director of Education.
All heads of schools and managers of privately recognized unaided schools allotted land by government agencies are directed to submit their proposals for fee increases for the academic session 2024-25 through the Directorate's website from April 1, 2024, to April 15, 2024. Any incomplete proposal will be rejected summarily.
